Vampire Tradition

Vampire Regalia |
Vampire tradition has evolved in our last century, much as the witch tradition has done so in the last 50 years. Meaning that more and more human beings are drawn to the idea or reality of the vampire as a viable alternative lifestyle.

Traditions are usually thought of as something that families pass on from generation to generation, and so it is with vampires. Sleeping in coffins is a tradition and a practical way of holding in energies that are vital for the vampire to exist. Energies are known to exist in just about everything on earth, Vampires are energy gatherers. Therefore we know that energy will eventually evaporate into the ozone, so lets assume that as a vampire we have gathered our energies (lifeforce) and now are ready to rest. What happens to the energies? If one sleeps ina conventional bed, then the energies will evaporate very quickly, but in a coffin with the lid shut, the energies will "bathe" the body throughout the night or day providing the cells with much needed rebuilding blocks that by active work and or being out in the sun burns away .

Weddings are traditions for all cultures and so it is with Vampires!
Black or red are the traditional colors of a vampire wedding, but lighter colors can be used as well. Of course night weddings are the must and only "red" wine served or used in the ceremony. Vampire weddings are quite beautiful and have varied styles according to the individual vampires tastes.

Fangs have actually been a part of the vampire tradition and history only in the last century, mostly due to authors such as Bram Stoker and Film-makers. In stories and documented accounts of vampires , mention of fangs were not noted. However for our festivals such as Halloween and get togethers , we can and do use fangs to enhance our appearances, much as wearing pentagrams or crosses enhance the appearance of those who wish to identify themselves as special people.
While this so far as I know has not become a widely spread tradition, it is one I hope for in the future. Schools for vampires and others of magickal or weirdly different orientation. I have myself started just such a school in my home/museum called the School of Magick. The book above is actually a regular english grammar book which would be ideal to teach vampire children. It has wonderful gothic pictures and uses sentences and phrases from gothic literature such as Poe.
