Vampires and Jesus?
" The old testament strictly prohibits the drinking of blood, "for the blood is the life of the flesh"(gen 6:10, deut:12:23)
In contrast to this ancient warning, shortly before his death on the cross, Jesus told his disciples, "Unless you eat the flesh of the son of man. and drink his blood, you shall have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him upon the last day."(john:6:35-54)
This saying is repeated in all four gospels, and the events of the last suppper are reenacted in the sacrament of Holy communion.--Robert Eighteen-Bisang.
As I said in a previous page , some vampires favor the Christian religion, and after reading the statement of Mr. Bisang, I began wondering and piecing all the little bits of folklore. Such as vampires and all the "holy" symbols, crosses , water, wafers, etc. I began to wonder, why would such things be abhorrent to a vampire of legend. Then it occurred to me , that if a vampire-god had been executed upon such a thing as a cross and if all the things that I mentioned had been used in his name then it made sense why it would horrify a vampire. If Jesus, had been a vampire born of a human woman, then he may have aquired great healing strengths, powers to affect or forecast the weather and after his mortal death raise as one of the undead. It is thought to have been symbolic to "drink of his Blood", but in that case would "suffer not a witch or poisoner to live " not have been symbolic as well? Instead it is thought by most to be as it was written. So in light of all this I could see the relationship of vampire and christianity.
